Wellness Clarification

Some of the date information presented with regard to wellness was perhaps a bit misleading. Because this did not get settled in a timely fashion, it was determined that no changes would be made to the wellness plan for this year. Next year, Phase 1 (which requires an action plan and a higher penalty for non-participation in the biometric health screening) will be introduced. For now, business as usual.

Tax Reform Night

On Monday, September 30 from 6:30-7:30 at NSLD there will be a meeting on Tax Reform. The speakers will be Dave Syverson, Ralph Martire/Center for Tax and Budget Accountability and Robert Evans/Associate Professor of Political Science at Rockford University.

You are highly encouraged to attend.

The Great State of Texas

A schoool bus bill passed. State Rep. Alma Allen had it passed and signed by Governor Perry. Union President Wretha Thomas, bus driver, bus aide rally in Austin for this bill. Now the bus drivers have a coive on the bus when there is a misbehaviing students. 

When the bus drivers get up in the morning, most school staff are still in bed, with their pillows under the head. These drivers go to work while its dark outside, they pick up students whether its raining or ice.

The truth about the Bush/Jindal voucher agenda

(Baton Rouge – September 18, 2013) Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal joined Florida Governor Jeb Bush in Washington today to push their failed voucher agenda and rail against a Justice Department lawsuit aimed at requiring the state to follow existing desegregation agreements.
